Kamal Haasan has officially confirmed the title of his next film ‘Yaavarum Kelir’. As known earlier, the film is directed by K.S Ravikumar and is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin of Red Giant Movies.

Finalizing the female lead happened to be a great turmoil for the biggies and now they’ve finalized Trisha for the project. Kamal Haasan’s elder daughter Shruthi Haasan scores music for the film and it’s completely comedy-entertainer with a pragmatic theme in the backdrop.

Kamal Haasan’s spokesperson has mentioned that the film will start rolling from April and will hit screens for Diwali without any delay.

Unnai Pol Oruvan premeire shows are confirmed in all major US cities at 8.30 pm Thursday night (Sep 17).

In Chennai, Kamal Hassan is not holding a premiere but had a show for close friends and technical crew of the film on Wednesday night at Four Frames theatre.

Those who've watched the closed-door preview of the film are unanimous that the film is a new, improved & balanced version of A Wednesday with fantastic performances by Kamal Haasan & Mohan Lal.

The stylish promos have already created a buzz around the film, and several distributors are confident that the film would embark on a flying start at the box-office.

The original producers of the Hindi film A Wednesday, Friday Filmworks have sent a legal notice to UTV, who presented and marketed the film. The notice says “disputes have arisen under the film production agreement” signed between both the parties over the film and its marketing.

It is bad news for Kamal Hassan who is remaking the film in Tamil and Telugu as the shoot was to start by mid-March. Kamal is said to be making the film along with UTV.

The original producers of the film have issued a Public Notice in tradepapers in Mumbai stating that – “Friday Filmworks have served a legalnotice on UTV to terminate the Agreement for their gross violation of the terms and conditions of the Agreement.”

Till UTV clears the issue with the original producers, it will be difficult to start the remake of the film in Tamil.

Kamalhassan in FICCI – Frames is India's largest Entertainment conference

The annual Indian media and entertainment convention FICCI FRAMES- 2009 is taking place in Mumbai.

FICCI – Frames is India's largest Entertainment conference, attended by world-wide entertainment industry people.

In 2007, Kamal Haasan and Rekha were honored as the Legends of Indian Cinema by FICCI Frames. And this year, Kamal returned to address the audience today on South Indian Cinema.

The select audience gave him a standing ovation and there was lot of appreciation for his comments on the film industry and his passion for films. In fact, most of the audience expressed their desire to see Kamal act regularly in Hindi films.

Kamal confirmed that he is doing the Tamil remake of A Wednesday and is set to play the role enacted by Naseerudin Shah. He said that the shooting will commence soon and the film is being directed by a newcomer from the US.

However, the highlight of Kamal's speech was the 10 commandments:

1. From my experience, there is no point in crying and running to mamas / papas (government officials) about the problems of the industry. We have to grow up and manage our problems on our own.

2. There is an ailment of fear in Tamil cinema and that's why they do not allow the entry of corporate companies. The business of cinema must welcome everyone.

3. Vested interests have delayed the entry of technology in cinema and hence there is a fear of digital technology (Kamal has bought Red cameras and will be using the same in his next film). By ushering in technology platforms of exhibition will increase and thereby do good to cinema especially through multiplexes.

4. Audience is the King finally. There is no point in debating whether content, actor or director is the king.

5. No film is small or big till it proves itself to be either to the audience.

6.I have already become the change what I want to see and hence embrace change continuously.

7. My core competence is films and I strive to improve in it every day. I don't wish to enter politics due to that. Politics is not a business and it will be dangerous if it has become one for the country.

8. I improve myself by constant introspection. I do not allow the larger than life image of myself taking over the real "me".
9. Piracy problem is an international issue and we need to address it together for the growth of cinema.

10. Video industry is curtailed in Tamil Cinema by a group of people who deny the rightful share to the Producers and hence release of official videos is obstructed thereby leading to piracy. It is actually a dormant industry in Tamil and needs to be exploited.

Winning laurels across far-flung corners of the globe with his Dasavatharam, Kamal Haasan has lots of offers from the World renowned Directors. At the moment, he has been approached by Bharath Bala Productions that produced A.R.Rahaman’s musical album ‘Vande Mataram‘ and ‘Jana Gana Mana‘.

Hollywood’s Walt Disney is also expected to join hands for the production works and the film is titled as 19 steps. The film directed by Bharathbala himself is set at the backdrops of Kerala in 9th Century. Japanese Film Superstar Thadanobhu Asaano plays the important role in the film.

Malayalam writer M.T.Vasudevan has penned story for the film and it is about Kamal Haasan playing the role of a warrior who gives training to his protégé played by Thadanobhu Asaano.



Asin performing the role of queen falls in love with him. A.R. Rahman has been roped into score music for the film. Well, Kamal Haasan is in deep discussion of accepting this offer or not. The actor is planning a trip to Sweden to zero-in on locations.

According to sources close to the actor, Kamal would be flying down to Sweden on July 15th.

Earlier he had planned to attend the dance show, Maya Ravan, to be conducted by danseuse and actress Shobana on July 18, 2008.

Tamilnadu Chief Minister Mr. M. Karunanidhi watched a special screening of the film Dasavathaaram

With just 4 more days to go, the advance booking of Dasavatharam is being carried out on a brisk pace.

The booking which opened on Sunday the 8th saw long queues in front of all the 17 theatres in Chennai which opened for advance reservation of Kamal Hasaan starrer Dasavatharam.

In Sathyam, all tickets for the first four days in two of their screens were sold out on the first day of booking. The movie is expected to have a 100% crowd in the opening week.

The posters which feature all the ten avatars of Kamal has the audience spellbound and every major theatre across Tamil Nadu is screening the film.

Kamal Hassan in an interview to a Mumbai tabloid has said that "Dasavatharam is the costliest film in the Tamil film industry. It has already managed to break even. It is a costly film as its stars; music director and the director are being paid a lot. The best part is that the producer (Oscar Ravichandran) was smiling at the start of the film and he still is smiling when it's complete - which is very rare."

Kamal refused to talk about the story or the 10 different roles he plays in the film. Says Kamal: "The ten different roles are the USP of Dasavatharam The only thing that I can tell is that it is a global film, probably not the first in the country, but truly global. It not only crosses geographical borders but also timelines. It goes back to 12th century and even goes forward without confusing the audiences".
Kamal denied that A.R Rahman walked out of the film. Says Kamal: "He could not give us time, and we could not wait any longer and had to make a choice. So, we looked around and since we also had a Hindi film in mind, we went to Himesh Reshammiya. It was just a business choice and when you see the film, you will know that it works for us. I must say that Himesh did surprise me in the first music sitting itself. But he gave us what we wanted and that too in a very short time. I have no complaints now, whatsoever"

Yes, it is true! We have heard about actor Prabhu essaying a very vital role in this superstar's film. Now there is one more 'mighty' addition to the star cast and Kamal Haasan too will be seen along with Rajinikanth in this multi-starrer film.

Even though Kamal’s Dasavatharam is complete and is ready for release, Oscar Ravichandran is refusing to release the movie for want of big money.

Ravichandran speaks about Jackie Chan and other reasons for the delay, but all that are just for fooling the Kamal fans it seems.

Ravichandran is aiming for very very big profit through this movie and for this he is trying to distribute the movie directly himself as he don’t want to share his profits with others.

The price that he quotes make the theater owners run away as only recently they burnt their pocket through Sivaji.Now Ravichandran is waiting for the 20-20 game to be over as he feels the release of the movie during 20-20 match will reduce the money flow for the movie.

So, only after 20-20 is over, you can expect Dasavatharam in screens.

Kamalhaasan in Walt Disney Productions for forthcoming film 'Marma Yogi'

Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan will now join hands with the Walt Disney Productions, who are expected to produce his forthcoming film ‘Marma Yogi’.

Walt Disney Productions, which recently tied up with Yash Raj Films for a full-length animated feature film called ‘Roadside Romeo’, wants to expand its operations across the country. So they have decided to start a venture with the versatile actor cum filmmaker.

The Kamal-Walt Disney venture will be co-produced by Bharath Bala, who produced A. R. Rahman’s patriotic music video Vande Mataram. ‘Marma Yogi’ will also bring Kamal and Rahman together after a long gap.

’Marma Yogi’ will be a period film, set in the seventh century, which will have erstwhile Bollywood heartthrob Hema Malini.

Kamal and Hema Malini had earlier teamed up in ‘Hey Ram’. Asin, the heroine of ‘Dasavadharam’, will play a key role. The film will probably be directed by Kamal Haasan.

Dasavatharam impressed Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi

Asin and KamalKamal Hasan’s movie Dasavatharam’s visual imagery has impressed not just his average fans but also Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi as well. He was so impressed that he personally called Vairamuthu in Australia and conveyed his enthusiasm.

According to audiographer, Sridar, Kamal has dubbed in ten different voices for his ten different roles and this was done without digital treatment.Just to show the intensity of the project, there is a scene featuring 10, 000 people’s voice with 5, 000 people, which makes the entire scene rich in detail, including sound effects.

The part of action featuring him and Asin was performed with “small tricks” so it will not be risky, if only India ’s stuntmen followed them they would not risk their lives and limbs.The audio is by Himesh Reshamaiah’s music group and the lyrics by Vaali and Vairamuthu. This film is expected to be released by October in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
