he talented actress and a National Award winner, Meera Jasmine was fix for all roles
Wonder what forces Meera Jasmine to do the roles she does. The talented actress and a National Award winner, Meera Jasmine was the first pick of many a director and hero, her expressive eyes and enviable acting prowess, her big asset.
In fact, within a short span of time, the actress has worked with the biggest directors of South India, including Maniratnam, Lingusamy, Sathyan Athinkad and Lohithadas. The actress, recently, however, has shocked many with her choice of roles.
Her acceptance to do films like Nepaali, where she hardly made her presence felt, have baffled many. The actress has now agreed to be part of the Guiness Award venture, Sivappu Malai, apart from being heroine in Adhi Narayana.
Apart from these, Meera Jasmine has agreed to play the sister’s character in the Kannada flick, Devaru Kotta Thange. It is interesting to note that Meera plays to sister to Monika in the film. Earlier, in Lingusamy’s Sandakozhi, Meera was the heroine and Monika played her sister.

Malayalam Movie Mammootty's Roudram Preview and Review
When writer-director Renji Panicker wanted an actor who would fit the lead role in his latest movie ‘Roudram,’ it was actor Mammootty, he says, who came to mind. The shooting of the film is going on in Kochi and will have Mammootty puttin g on the Khaki yet again, as Narendran, an assistant commissioner of police “‘Roudram’ is essentially the transformation of a police officer to ‘roudrabhavam’ or the personification of anger.
Narendran, a law graduate, becomes a cop in the footsteps of his father, who had died in an encounter. He is deputed to investigate a murder that turns out to be a murky affair. He has to take on some powerful names and how he handles it all is narrated in the film,” says the director.
The location is a plush bungalow in Kakkanadu. Sai Kumar, Vijayaraghavan, Sona and Ramu are facing the camera. Cinematographer Sanjeev Sankar goes for a trolley shot to get a full view of the neatly designed bar in a corner of the room.

Sai Kumar, as Sethu, a flamboyant businessman, sternly warns an underling and then turns to an acolyte for her approval. She smiles and gives a thumbs-up sign, which, in fact, denotes danger. The crew goes for some close-up shots.
“I am playing a baddie with a difference. He has some interesting mannerisms,” says Sai Kumar, after completing his shot in the first take.
Manju, who makes her entry into films without any prior experience in the field, plays the wife of the hero. Vijayaraghavan, who was last seen in ‘Ekalavyan,’ is also in the movie.
“My character is called Purushothaman Pillai or Appichayi. He has a paralysed arm and shares a peculiar relation with Sai’s character,” says Vijayaraghavan.
It was two years ago that Renji Panicker made his debut as a director with the hit ‘Bharat Chandran IPS.’
“I get exhausted after completing a film and need some time to rejuvenate,” he says, explaining the reason for the hiatus. He is almost always associated with high voltage action dramas in which the heroes and villains spit fiery dialogues.
“I am doing the kind of films that I feel comfortable with. I prefer to bank on punchy dialogues to create the required effect. There are no songs in the film as I believe there is no space for one in this kind of high suspense drama,” says Renji.
‘Roudram’ is being produced by Shahul Hameed Marikar and Anto Joseph under the banner of Marikar films. Stills are by Ajit V. Sankar. The film will hit theatres towards the end of November.

Clash between the two giants of the Malayalam film industry

Today (Jan 31) is an important day, as after a very long time there is going to be a deadly clash between the two giants of the Malayalam film industry at the Kerala box-office!
Mammootty's Rowdram, where he plays a police officer for the 26th time is going to have a head- on- clash with Mohanlal's College Kumaran where he enacts the role of a college canteen supervisor.
Rowdram has an UA certificate and is releasing in 55 screens, while College Kumaran has got an U certificate and is also releasing in 55 screens, across Kerala.
The atmosphere is electrifying as fans of both the superstars are leaving nothing to chance as their favourite stars are desperate for a hit. To avoid clashes between the fans in complexes where both the films are being played, heavy police bandobust is being provided.
It is the ultimate clash between Mammootty and Mohanlal, as there is lot at stake.
