It was earlier said that Mirugam Samy was looking out for a heroine in his next project Charithiram. Kodambakkam grapevine revealed that many heroines were approached by the director but in vain.
After an exhaustive search, he had zeroed in on Meenakshi of Karuppusamy Kuthagaidarar fame. Meenakshi though a Bengali by birth has typical Tamil looks and her performance in KK was much appreciated by everyone.
This heroine-centric film of Samy requires its leading lady to be an exponent of Silambattam which is an oldest traditional martial arts form of Tamil Nadu.
Meenakshi impressed by the script is said to have agreed to learn Silambattam and perfect its techniques. Currently she is learning the same from an expert and is said to be very quick in grasping its nuances.
